Extra-Ordinary New Moon April 17

I always like to see a New Moon against a dark starry sky.   Prior to actually seeing it there is darkness so the New Moon may well not be visible until a few days later because the side of the Moon lit by the Sun is facing away from us on Earth.   A New Moon is always a time for the new, whether that’s a completely new beginning or something forming more quietly on an internal level.  In contrast a Full Moon tends to bring visible results.

At this New Moon we have an extra-ordinary amount of energy in the sign of Aries.   There are two stelliums.   One sits in early Aries – Neptune, Mercury, Mars (in his own sign) and Saturn – and the second gathers towards the end of the sign – Chiron, Sun and Moon.  We are currently facing the war in the Middle East and the two stelliums almost seem to me to symbolise the two factions involved in the starting of the war.  One with the force of the New Moon and past wounds of some form, and the other deeply entrenched in ideological thinking.

Aries is about initiation, direct movement, action without overthinking to the point where you perhaps begin before you are completely ready.   This energy is more about focus and undeniably pushing forward.  It is less about reflection and more about ignition. And that creates an interesting contrast with the New Moon itself.  The sky is dark, yet the underlying pattern is highly active.   It is quiet on the surface, yet decisive underneath.  Things that begin under this energy do not begin carefully or perfectly or hesitatingly.  They begin directly. And once they start, they have a momentum all of their own that isn’t easily controlled or slowed down.

If you feel this applies to you, then don’t overthink or wait till a system is in place.   Be direct. Focus on where you are moving towards and where you might be delaying action you already understand.  This isn’t about figuring everything out – it’s about removing friction between knowing and doing.

This energy is particularly strong in London, where the feeling is transitional.  The two stelliums sit either side of the astrological Midheaven – where we direct our lives on a conscious level.  Because of that there’s a sense here of something larger at play.  A feeling of being directed.  Even destiny.  Are we moving towards the next phase – towards Taurus, where we build, stabilise and create from Aries’ pioneering force?  Or are we heading towards a more destructive expression of Aries energy?  Because Aries ignites and with Mars, the God of War, in his own sign, heading towards Saturn (reality, responsibility, structures), this energy is demanding awareness and action.

Just nine days after this forceful New Moon, Uranus fully enters Gemini to begin his new cycle.  Uranus archetypes like to make their actions both quick and shocking.  This could well be a point where the world changes.   Sometimes planets represent a person.   Donald Trump is both a Gemini and Uranian in nature.  He has already announced that he will disclose alien activity.  Will we get a shock from two sides – from the direction of the current war and the announcement that we are not alone – and perhaps have not been for a very long time?

The momentum is building.  Two stelliums in Aries don’t wait for perfect timing.  They make an unstoppable force and, whether that movement becomes creation or destruction, depends on how consciously it is directed.   April could well be the most astonishing fireworks display we have ever seen.
